A Night of Wunder:
Benefit for the Wunder Project
March 21st, 2014 5:30 PM
Savannah International Trade & Convention Center Ballroom
$125/person or $250/couple
We are proud to sponsor the "A Night of Wunder" benefit for the Wunder Project and their quest for a cure for colorectal cancer as well as local Savannahian and patient of the Center for Digestive and Liver Health, Carlyle Dorroh.
Carlyle writes in a letter on behalf of the Wunder Project, "Last year, at the age of 40, with no family history, I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. In August 2012 I was told I had two years to live, possibly five if I am lucky, but most likely two. Since then I have had 20 rounds of chemotherapy and 4 surgeries. I am currently in treatment and will once again undergo major surgery in February. Since my diagnosis I have become a colorectal cancer advocate. Not only am I selfishly determined to live long enough for a cure to be found, I want to keep others from ever having to experience this.
Thank you for considering sponsorship for A Night of Wunder. Clearly it is close to my heart. I have three young children and unless discoveries are made quickly, I will not be here to guide them as they grow, see them become adults, and have children. All things so many 41 year olds take for granted. While I have limited control over my own future, pushing for research and a cure can ensure my children never have to experience the physical and emotional challenges of living with colorectal cancer. Their children will not have to watch them suffer through invasive surgeries, chemotherapy and risk losing a parent far too young."
