What is a capsule endoscopy?
A capsule endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to diagnose problems in the small intestine, including gastrointestinal bleeding, cancer, polyps, or Crohn’s disease.
How does a capsule endoscopy work?
You must swallow a vitamin-sized capsule containing a tiny wireless camera. As the capsule moves through the digestive tract, the camera captures thousands of images which are sent to a recorder worn around the waist, which you will wear for several hours. The images are downloaded into a video format, which your doctor views to examine any abnormalities.
